AWARD OF THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS

SGT Earl Billingsly, 61st INF REGT, Native of Tecumseh, AL, entered the Army at Anniston, AL (S/N 2387705). On November 5, 1918 SGT Billingsly voluntarily went forward in advance of the line, attacked an enemy held MG position, wounding at least one enemy soldier and causing the remaining soldiers to flee allowing forward movement of his unit through the heavily defended sector of Dun-Sur-Meuse, France.
